Buying Department 56 Collectibles

Department 56 display at Art Knapp's Plantland

I really enjoy looking at the different Christmas village pieces and accessories from Department 56 and then imagine how they will fit into my existing collection.

Maybe it is a new character that will make the scene interesting or maybe it is new village piece to start a memorable scene.

The next bit of fun is purchasing the piece and then taking it home in anticipation of setting my Christmas village.

I focus on the North Pole village, but there are a lot of other great village series from D56 like: Alpine Village, Dickens Village, Halloween Village and Snow Village to name a few.

I'm lucky that I have a local store that stocks and carriers a good selection of Department 56 villages and accessories. They have a good selection in stock and an awesome display area, but as you know there are a lot of different series available and they can't carry all of the pieces.

Another way to track down and purchase pieces is to go online. My favorite place is Ebay. You can always find a variety of pieces and sometimes you can get a good deal. Just make sure you take into account the shipping cost as part of the purchase price.

Here's a list of a few other stores I found online that I like and you might want to check out:

The Wooden Duck

Canterbury Village

Chesterton Manor

The Christmas Dove

Christmas Loft

Christmasplace.com

Christmas Tree Hill

City Lights

Macy's
