Department 56 2007 December Retirements are HereBy Leanne Tremblay Once again, Department 56 has released their list of retirements for this year (2007). This means that as of December 31st, the molds of each of the Christmas village buildings and accessories on this list will be broken and each piece will cease production. Sounds so dramatic! Of course, you will still be able to find these pieces from Department 56 retailers and Christmas collectible shops, but they become just a teensy bit more collectible (that’s the idea isn’t it?)…. In the villages list alone there are more than a hundred pieces listed in every D56 series, from the Alpine Village Series to Halloween. Browse the list and you’ll be sure to find some favorites. Good for you if you already have some of these in your collection. If you don’t, well, Christmas is coming after all and I hope you’ve been good! You can view that list of retirements here: I am partial to the North Pole series and a few of the buildings we’ll be saying good bye to include:
A note about gift sets: what I really like about the gift sets is that they include a coordinating figurine. They make a great starter set if you are just beginning your collection or if you are giving a D56 village as a gift. They’re great value.
